Selected by Runner's World as one of the "10 Most Scenic Marathons of the Year" and one of the "Top 10 Destination Marathons in North America."

This is an incredibly scenic course! Marathoners are bussed 26.2 miles to the start at Hahns Peak Village (Elevation 8128 ft.) near the beautiful Mount Werner. The race proceeds on slightly rolling hills down the Elk River Valley, past horse pastures, a wandering stream, and snowy peaks in the distance. The finish line is downtown Steamboat Springs (Elevation 6728 ft). There is also a Half-Marathon that starts 13.1 miles out of town at Moon Hill, (elevation 6,990 ft.) and a 10k that loops through Strawberry Park in Steamboat Springs. Register early, this race opens for registration each January and fills up within a few weeks as the marathon is limited to only 500 participants. The weather can very from snow to hot and dry to rain, so pack running clothes and gear for all weather situations.

Steamboat Springs is located three hours from Denver in the Northwest corner of Colorado. You can also fly into our local airport in Hayden, Colorado which is 25 minutes from Steamboat Springs.

TRANSPORTATION: Free transportation to both the Marathon and Half Marathon starting areas will be available for participants only.

Buses will leave from the parking lot at the corner of 8th and Oak Street, downtown Steamboat Springs, and the Gondola Transit Center on Mt. Werner Circle. Marathon buses board from 5:45-6:00am at the Gondola Transit Center and 6:00-6:15am downtown. Half marathon buses board from 6:00-6:15am at the Gondola Transit Center and 6:15-6:30am downtown. Buses will bring your personal items back to the finish area.

Please provide a bag and identify it clearly. Parking is extremely limited at both starting areas. Traffic on our open course is an added hazard and is strongly discouraged.

This may not be the fastest course because of the altitude, but you won't regret running this race. The scenery is beautiful, the race is well directed, and there are a lot of area attractions that make the race weekend fun.
