I arrived in Tulsa about 6 PM on a Monday in mid-July in a 10-ft. Uhaul truck. I followed the directions from runningplaces.com and easily found Riverside Drive. I took Riverside Drive North and immediately turned into the parking lot at River Park. I easily found a place to park my small Uhaul truck but the parking lot will not accommodate larger vehicles.
There were several runners, bikers & in-line skaters preparing to go on the trail. There were also several apparent vagrants lounging & drinking beer at a picnic table but they left everyone else alone. The local athletes were very open and friendly and readily answered my questions.
I ran north to 11 th street, crossed the Arkansas River and ran south. A sign on the south-bound track indicated that the pedestrian bridge at 31st street was closed so I crossed the river at the 21st street bridge to return to the parking lot.
The run lasted about 25 minutes, which was long enough in the 90+ degree, humid July weather. The asphalt path was clean and uncrowded. The riverside neighborhood has up-scale apartments and condos and beautiful landscaping. The run was the highlight of my 12+ hour drive from Memphis to Blackwell, Oklahoma in the good ole' Uhaul truck and provided much needed relief from road stress.
